Instituted in 1928.
Area - 203.6 thousand hectares. Agricultural production area - 163.6 thousand hectares.
Population - 106 thousand; that of the administrative centre, Liski, - 56.5 thousand.
A total of 8,500 people are employed in the agricultural sector.
A graduate of the Voronezh Agricultural Institute. Has been at the head of the Liski District since 1991. Awarded the Order of International Friendship and the Medal "For Dedicated Labour".

The collective agricultural enterprise "Liskinskoye", set up in 1990 on the basis of a state farm of the same name, specializes in extra fattening of cattle. It develops the dairy sector and crop farming. In 1998 it produced 65,000 centners (hundredweight) of grain, 71,000 centners of sugar beet, 180,000 centners of maize for silo, 65,000 centners of green-cut fodder; the combined gain weight of the cattle herd of 7,400 head was 12,000 centners; the 280 cows yielded a total of 12,000 centners of milk.
