The Group of Companies "Maxim" was founded in 1989 without state capital involvement. The annual turnover of the group of companies topped 253 million dollars in 1996. Today the group has a combined personnel of about 10,000. This is an association of 10 independent investment, manufacturing and trading companies, research centres, and a dealer network.
The range of activities pursued by the Group of Companies "Maxim" includes: investment in the petrochemical industry; supply of raw materials to the sectoral enterprises; market research; research on development and employment of new types of tyres and synthetic rubber; trade in petrochemicals, tyres, and motor vehicles. The group of companies, including such three large integrated facilities as Novokuibyshev petrochemical combine, "Sintezkauchuk" (Togliatti) and "Orgsintez" (Novomoskovsk), turn out over 100 kinds of products. MAXIM sells them on the Russian and international markets.
MAXIM's business partners, leading Russian and Western banks, finance the group's research and production projects. One of the promising projects involves development of novel tyres. At the Motorshow-96 in Moscow the group presented its latest development project, called Forward. Original engineering solutions and designs used in development of those tyres make them the most reliable, safest and most efficient in the CIS. The Forward tyre family has undergone all kinds of tests and trials and a start on their mass production is to be made soon. A technology for production of environment-friendly polyurethane tyres cutting by half environmental pollution they cause has been developed. The tyres are completely re-utilizable after being used up.
